You’ll want to choose a coin with a high silver percentage so that it doesn’t discolor under the ring’s surface. A coin with a low silver percentage may even develop an ugly green color, so it’s best to avoid them altogether. If you do end up choosing a plated coin ring, keep in mind that it’s usually worth less than one that’s solid sterling silver.
